NZSPB/ASPS Hub conference, November 28/29th 2024

Conference registration has now closed. If you have already registered, please make your registration payment now using the payment buttons below. If you have not registered yet, but would like to attend, please contact the organizer for the hub you would like to join to ask whether there is room for additional registrants.

The 2024 NZSPB conference will located in hubs around the motu, with sites in Auckland, Palmerston North and Lincoln (Christchurch/Canterbury) that will connect together via video conferencing. This is an in-person conference where participants will attend one of the hub locations (personal video conferencing is not an option). This will be held in conjunction with the Australian Society of Plant Scientists with a shared session, providing an opportunity to increase connection between our societies.  The conference format balances the cost pressures many are facing that could prevent conference participation, while still providing some of the benefits of an in-person event.  The hub format means we will not be accepting poster presentations for this meeting, but we will have student flash talks (3 mins) at each hub.  Full oral presentations will be streamed across the hubs.

  • Abstract submission for full talks were due 27th September. We invite abstracts from all areas of plant biology – Plant physiology, biotechnology, ecology, molecular genetics and more! This is an excellent opportunity for students and early career researchers (ERCs) to showcase their work. Please email your abstracts to [email protected] using the template attached below.
  • Registration was due 1st November. Any issues, contact [email protected]
  • Volunteers welcome – please get in contact if you’re keen to get involved to support this event.

NZSPB student travel assistance

A reminder that the NZSPB accepts applications from student members for travel assistance to attend our annual meetings, and for International conference attendance. This year, the student member registration costs for the hub conference have been kept very low, so applications for travel assistance will only be considered for those traveling to a hub from out of town.

Other NZSPB funds such as the Technician’s award and Equity Bursary are also open for applications.

Conference Registration is now closed
